Nobody likes having chipped, spotty, crooked, damaged teeth.
If you’re tired of hiding your smile, dental veneers may be just what you need to improve the appearance of your teeth and your confidence in your smile.
They can be matched to your chipped, damaged teeth to look completely natural.
Veneers for Overall Health
Have your teeth been damaged in an accident or permanently discolored? Are they oddly shaped or full of gaps? Whatever your reason for being unhappy with the appearance of your teeth, the effects it can have on your self-esteem may do lasting damage to your physical and mental health.
What Are Veneers?
Veneers are custom-fitted, paper-thin pieces of ceramic or composite material that gets bonded firmly to the surface of your teeth to give them a naturally better-looking smile. They’re safe, non-toxic, and preparing you teeth is much easier than it is for crowns and fillings.
Types of Veneers
There are two different types, porcelain and composite.
Porcelain has several advantages over composite veneers:
- They are stronger and more durable
- They look completely natural
- VERY stain resistant
Although not as strong and durable as porcelain, composite veneers have their own advantages:
- Cheaper than porcelain veneers
- Quick and easy to repair if damaged
- Can be done in one visit
Fitting Dental Veneers
For porcelain veneers, it usually takes two visits to the dentist from start to finish. For composite veneers, you can usually get them done in one visit. However, if you have any issues such as cavities or gum disease, make sure you get them fixed before you get veneers done.
On your first visit, depending on the position of the tooth and the desired position of your veneer, we may need to do some tooth preparation. We make a mold of your prepared tooth (or teeth) and the apposing arch, and decide on a color match for your veneer. We also may use temporary veneers to hold you over until your permanent ones are finished in our lab.
At your second visit, your veneers will be fitted and bonded to your teeth with a safe, non-toxic adhesive.
At Hawaii Family Dental Centers, our veneers look and feel totally natural.
