A New Smile for New Year’s

If you’ve been thinking of bigger, brighter, smile for New Year’s, check out some of these popular options:

Teeth Whitening

One of the most common cosmetic dentistry options the general public turns to is teeth whitening. This includes both professional and at-home whitening. Professional teeth whitening ensures your pearly whites are genuinely pearly white. Many opt for teeth whitening to enhance their smile before a photo shoot, wedding, or another special event. Others like having whiter teeth just for the desired smile.

Braces/Invisalign

Another popular method of cosmetic dentistry includes braces and Invisalign to straighten the teeth to a more aligned and desirable outcome. Gaps, overbites, underbites, and crooked teeth are some of the few things metal braces and clear Invisalign retainers can obtain to give patients their confidence back.

Dental Implants

Those with a missing tooth or few may find dental implants to be an excellent option for replacement, filling in the gap for a completed smile. Options include permanent and removable dental implants that both look and feel like actual teeth.

Dentures

Those missing teeth on the top, bottom, or both find dentures to be a reliable option to replace their missing teeth. Dentures are usually removable and help with eating, speaking, smiling, and maintaining the facial structure.

Dental Crowns

Like veneers, dental crowns can cover up or aid a variety of tooth-related problems, only that they cover the whole tooth rather than just the front. Crowns are used for strengthening the teeth and giving them a better appearance after tooth decay but can also be used for other problems such as tooth discoloration or misshapen teeth.

Bridges

Similar to dental implants, bridges replace missing teeth. Two crowns on each side of a gap form a “bridge” and act as a support system, in an effort to restore a missing tooth or teeth in between.

6 Ways To Stick To Your New Year’s Resolutions

#1 Make a realistic New Year’s resolution. A revision may be necessary

First and foremost, you must make a New Year’s resolution that is realistic. You can’t expect to drop 20 pounds in a week or to get abdominal muscles in less than a month.

It would also be unrealistic to go from eating several sweets a day to never eat a dessert again. If you already came up with an unrealistic resolution, it’s time to revise it.

Change it into something that is easier to obtain. Remember, everything in moderation. Don’t make a resolution that is too complex, detailed, or specific.

#2 Take baby steps

If your goal is to stop drinking soda, this doesn’t mean cut cold turkey. You should first begin limiting your intake.

Say, instead of drinking four sodas a day, only have two. Maybe limit your soda consumption after a certain time, or only drink soda at special gatherings or occasions.

The goal should be to gradually cut it out, not cut it out altogether. This is especially important for quitting smoking or drinking alcohol; your body (like you) has trouble adapting to drastic changes and will likely suffer from difficult withdrawals.

#3 Realize that it takes time for progress

Don’t be upset if progress isn’t immediately beginning to show. It takes time and a whole lot of patience.

A resolution, after all, requires one to stick with it. Sometimes it’s best not to have a strict time limit when you want to officially reach your goal or resolution. However, you must be a little strict and really want that change to ensure you’ll stick with it.

#4 Get friends and family in on the resolution

Nothing makes a resolution more official than announcing it to friends and family. Perhaps pair up with someone with the same or similar resolution as you, and work together.

If you can’t find someone with the same resolution, make a pact to help one another with your different resolutions to make them successful. Perhaps a joint resolution could also be made, such as between a couple who want to stop fighting as often.

#5 Know that it’s ultimately up to you to be successful with your resolution

You can’t expect your resolution to just happen or even expect it to come to you. It’s your responsibility to get the results you want. Otherwise, no progress will occur. However, it’s just fine to ask for help with achieving your resolution, but know that it does take some sort of effort to actually make it happen.

#6 Reward yourself

After making progress, it’s time to reward yourself. Watching a movie, getting a pedicure, or purchasing a new book are great ways to reward yourself. The reward doesn’t have to be expensive or cost a dime at all, but you should at least give yourself a verbal “Good job.”
