How To Say Yes To Your Most Beautiful Smile

According to recent research, smiling helps cut down the stress the mind and body feel. This is similar to obtaining good sleep. In fact, the simple act of smiling helps you produce positive emotions.

Interestingly, though, children smile more than their adult counterparts. Children smile an average of 400 times per day. While cheerful adults still smile 40 to 50 times a day, most of us only smile 20 times a day on average.

Some studies also found that people smile less at work than when they are at home. 30-percent of participants in a research study smiled around 5 to 20 times per day, and 28-percent smiled more than 20 times in a day at the workplace.

A person’s facial expressions do more than just convey his or her present mood. In fact, these have the ability to alter the mood too. Emotions may come from the brain. However, the muscles in the face have the ability to either bolster or completely change those feelings. Current research disclosed that through the enrichment of positive emotions or the abolition of unpleasant ones with the use of facial expressions, someone’s mood starts to coordinate more strongly with the emotion their face is presenting.

However, not everyone has a smile they love. 23 percent of Americans say they have to hide their smile. If you’re one of these folks, it’s okay – you can still get the smile you deserve with braces, Invisalign, teeth whitening, or teeth reshaping. The options are endless.

Here are some of the ways dentistry can amp your smile:

#1 Teeth-whitening

One of the most well-known dental procedures is professional teeth-whitening. This one-hour process allows one to bring their discolored and stained teeth to a beautiful shade of clean white. It’s even been proven that a prettier smile can increase one’s shot at a job interview.

#2 Snap-on smile

Unhappy with the shape, size, or other factors of your teeth, but don’t want to get them pulled out and replaced by dentures? No worries! A newer dental product known as a snap-on smile is a set of teeth that snap onto your pre-existing teeth.

This product is more affordable, less painful, and doesn’t require any commitment to use. It’s a simple way to transform your teeth!

#3 Teeth and gum recontouring

Those who are unhappy with one or two teeth surely won’t find braces reliable. However, with teeth and gum recontouring, a dental professional can reshape the gums or teeth to make them appear more in alignment with one another.

Also, sometimes the shape or length of the gums can make a tooth appear an awkward shape. But with a little recontouring of the gums, it can offer a different appearance for a tooth or two without the need for braces nor removing and replacing a tooth.

#4 Dental bonding

Typically completed in less than an hour, dental bonding can restore teeth that exhibit damage due to a fracture or tooth decay. Bondings are natural, beautiful, and unrecognizable. This dental procedure has been around for many years and still pleases many patients.

#5 Orthodontics (braces, Invisalign, etc.)

All age groups can find comfort with their smile through orthodontics. Braces, Invisalign, and other orthodontic devices can reshape the alignment of the teeth and jaw to create not only the desired smile but also to reduce irregular wear of the teeth and to increase oral hygiene as food particles cannot comfortably fit between the teeth.

#6 Implants

Replace a missing tooth or few with dental implants. Both permanent and temporary implants provide a realistic, beautiful, clean appearance while also helping with eating, speaking, and the like. These devices are implanted into the gums, “rooted” like a natural tooth and appear and function as any tooth.

#7 Veneers

Cracks, stains, minor chips, and other slight dental problems can be protected thanks to dental veneers. Veneers are porcelain slips that slide right on top of a tooth to make it good as new. Some patients also opt for veneers to give some of their teeth a different shape or size, for instance.

#8 Periodontal plastic surgery

Those who are unhappy with their receding gums or larger gum tissue can have periodontal plastic surgery to reduce its appearance. The gum tissue is removed in some areas to give you that desired smile you’ve always been looking for.
