I've had a lot of dental work done recently at Hawaii Family Dental. Dr. Brian Matsumoto and his staff are professional and always concerned about my comfort and well being. Dr. Matsumoto is an excellent dentist, and over the years has provided me with implants, fillings and crowns with very satisfying results.

I’ve been going to Hawaii Family Dental for several years and on every visit I have found the staff friendly and efficient. My hygienist Yana is a perfectionist and friendly. When I went to check in for my routine cleaning visit last week at 8am the receptionist told me my appointment wasn’t until 2pm. On checking my calendar I realized she was right. My day was busy and I thought I’d have to reschedule for another day. However, Yana was there and after a little discussion with the receptionist I was taken in and had my teeth cleaning done. I felt they went above and beyond my expectations.

It was a wonderful experience! The entire team from the staff to the doctor were extremely kind, we were quite problematic clients, since I came with three children at once, but the time was chosen perfectly, also my eldest daughter has braces and first she needs to take them off to treat her teeth then put them back on and it's hard to believe, but all this was done in one day!!!! That is, in a few hours, the teeth of three children were treated and the issue with braces was resolved, usually it would have taken several days. I am very grateful to all the staff, you are extremely cool!

I had an excellent experience at Hawaii Family Dental yesterday 9/4/2025. Dr. Moon is outstanding—very caring, patient, and incredibly detailed in his work. He made sure I was comfortable the entire time and explained everything thoroughly. My hygienist was also amazing, extremely detailed with the cleaning, and really took the time to make my teeth look and feel great. On top of that, the front desk staff Mandy and other lady, so friendly and welcoming, which made the whole visit smooth and pleasant. Highly recommend this office if you’re looking for quality dental care with a team that truly cares about their patients!

Great visit! The virtual concierge was a unique but effective beginning to the appointment. In addition I found everyone well trained, very polite and easy to speak with. I just had a basic cleaning but I am sure I will be returning for future dental needs.

I have had about 3 visits to this dental office, and I have been impressed every time with the efficiency, warmth, and thorough education offered by each of my providers. I am amazed at how the staff and physicians stay on time and make sure we have everything we need. I wish we had more offices/dentists, as I can only get appointments booked 6 months in advance. But Iʻm super happy to be a part of this office.

This location has to be my favorite dentist office to go to, I've seen several dentist here and Dr.Fernando has to be my favorite, very personal, funny and thorough with everything he does. Highly recommend.

Technician and doctor was amazing, relaxed and very gentle. Both were thorough and explained issues with detail and articulation as such that i could understand and thus follow instructions at home. Facility was clean and professional. Intake dealt with issues concerning insurance.

I hate going to the dentist, feels like I am drowning with the drilling and water in my small mouth. But I love the feeling of clean teeth at the end! No pain, no gain! My hygienist is great! Always giving my oral hygiene tips and advice!

Taking my dad to receive dental care with Hawaii Family Dental - Kihei was a great choice! Dr Melo was very attentive , explaining patiently and clearly the treatment options and implications. I will definitely recommend this clinic, and will request dr Melo for further treatments for myself.

Dr. Tupua has a gentle, reassuring approach and takes the time to explain everything clearly. You can tell she truly cares about her patients. Her team works so well together—friendly, efficient, and always making sure you feel comfortable. It’s rare to find such a great combination of skill and compassion in one office. I’m so glad I found them and wouldn’t go anywhere else!

The dental team was very courteous and wanted to make sure i was comfortable. I was surprised there was a dentist available to help repair my temporary crown on a Sunday.

The entire staff are very very friendly and professional. Waiting time was maybe 5 minutes after I checked in. This was My first visit there to do a tooth extension and Dr Todd did an amazing job, clean and never needed any stitching. I asked Dr Todd how long do I need to wait before I can have my temporary tooth because I have a trip to Vegas and he said I will do a recommendation letter to your dentist to have your temporary crown done as soon as possible. 1 hour later I got a call from my dentist to get my temporary crown done this Friday. That was fast!!

Well, I must say Dr. Mello is amazing. I'm old school where dentists always hurt and am a bit shy of dental treatments. Dr. Mello is so sweet and absolutely no pain or uncomfortable feelings. I highly recommend the pleasant receptionists, my Cleaning Girls and of course Dr. Mello!

I totally love my dentist office. EVERYONE is super cool. It's such a comfortable atmosphere and that's saying a lot because I can't stand going to the dentist! Just one of my own dislikes. HOWEVER, they make it enjoyable and fun. And I love my hygienist. Christy is the BEST ever. Never ever hurts. It's great!

I’m grateful for Dr. Lee and his team, they are professional and always make sure I’m comfortable. They explain everything clearly, and my visits are always treated with care and attention.

Had complete everything.... x-ray, cleaning and check up with dentist. Laura, my dental hygienist is very thorough and always does such a good job with cleaning my teeth. She makes recommendations on what I need to do better and is always encouraging. Dr. Bono looks at the x-rays and checks my teeth, tongue and mouth area. She is efficient and I am thankful that all the staff, including the virtual check in guy do their job very well and quickly. No waiting for anything!

Laura was the BEST Hygienist Cleaner EVER. From the very start Laura made me feel very comfortable & relaxed. Throughout the session Laura would ask if I was comfortable & if I needed a stretch break, I did.we laughed wen I told her she was like an archeologists scraping away the years of build up. Hawai’i Family Dental did an OUTSTANDING job while performing the work and care for my teeth at the time of my visit. I had a toothache and the clinic was able to quickly arrange an appointment for me. The staff and dentists were absolutely amazing — so caring, professional, and kind. Dr. Mello has a wonderful way of relating to her patients and made me feel so comfortable. She also gave me helpful ideas on how to achieve a better smile, since I’ll need some implants. I highly recommend her services, and I will definitely continue seeing them!

I want to share my bad experience with the dentist that did my extraction. He is very rough and no gentleness at all. When he injected me with anesthesia he just told me to open my mouth and he just poked me and caught me off guard. I was expecting a numbing gell first but he didnt do that. Painful experience that could have been alleviated a little bit.

It's always been a very nice experience in coming here to have my teeth done. Everyone in this Dental Office are all very nice, greet you with a smile. Dr Brian Matsumoto were the one who's helping me to get my smile back. He's always patient when I come back. He take his time assisting me and not rushing me. All the assistant here are all so nice. My fear of going to the dentist is going away now because the doctors here and everyone are just awesome. The doctor who did my surgery were super great and it was done in a flash with no pain. The office, all the equipment are all top of the line. I'm recommending this Kaahumanu Dental to everyone. Thank you so much Dr. Matsumoto for everything you did for me.
