I had an appointment today at Hawaii Family Dental at the Waiakea Villas. Adam (the hygienist ) has a very professional & friendly demeanor & was a blessing. Dr Young expertly and painlessly checked my teeth, filled 3 or more cavities, was quite attentive to any concerns I had & did an excellent job. I would recommend this practice to anyone!

They're very kind, caring and really patient when it came to my younger child. We came from a dentist that traumatized my daughter and they didnt rush her through the appointment but spoke soft, explained what they were doing and waited till she was ready again. I'm so glad we found them.

This concerns my appt last Thursday 6/3 & will be in 3 parts: (1) my experience with my Dr. Collyer Young. He seems very competent & is caring & gentle. But they seemed to be surprised when I mentioned 3 other cavities which need attention before other work can proceed - they were aware of this in the past. Not sure what this means but I was surprised at what seemed to be a lapse. (He put in one temp.filling.) (2) Receptionist, a young man. I have felt him to less than friendly to me in the past.. But this time, after my procedure I was sent to waiting area, pending scheduling my next appts. Turns out the chair I sat down in was swimming in some kind of liquid which soaked through my pants & underwear. I quickly switched to the adjacent chair which of course also got wet. I asked if anyone knew who'd been sitting in that chair before me, got a lackluster response. And l got from his was he'd get me some paper towels - not also are you OK, what was that liquid (urine?), sorry this happened to you. In fact no one at the reception desk even looked my way, there were no apologies - did they think it was my fault? The young man wiped the first chair, and the 2nd, when I pointed out the need. I saw no attempts at real sanitation. Anyway - I'm not blaming them about the chairs - it was a surprise to all of us - what concerns me was the utter indifference to me. My wet garments weren't t their responsibility, he did provide paper towels.I had to deal w/them as best I could & I had other appts that day. I was embarrassed and angry - I considered quitting the clinic on the spot except for the fact I've been undergoing dental procedures for so long, I''d be loathed to start again elsewhere. 3.Finally - my fault entirely: by the time I met with the young lady to schedule future appts, I was already fit to be tied.. When she mentioned a date far into the future, I blew up. I pointed to the sole visible front tooth & complained that it has taken several years of dental work & I still look ridiculous, (In fact, I was seen several years at the Keaau Dental clinic for numerous cavities & extractions, taking any appts over time). At your clinic - since December. I requested that I not be confined to Dr. Young & since my chart is available to all, that I be scheduled with any available dentists for the duration. I see that she was able to schedule me for appts in July & August with Dr. Young despite my demeanor. I want to apologize to that young woman for going off on her-- she was courteous to me, doing her job. I was out of line - mainly because of carry-over anger about my experience w/the the indifferent receiptionist (s). Finally - I am concerned that I perhaps brought all this on my self, that I maybe project a "crazy old lady"" vibe or even "I'm entitled." demanding special treatment - which understandably would be off-putting to your young reception staff. And I'm concerned that having said all this, I may experience even chillier reception in future.. That would be adding insult to injury. Anyway - please understand I feel you're running a very professional offic e, - this is the first time I've had any issues of any kin I'm grateful. If you do speak to the young man about this, perhaps you can learn why he reacted as he did - and counsel him to "warm up" his presentation -- after all, his is a patient-facing, front desk job. Thank you I

Hawaii Family Dental is the BEST! Particularly the Waikea Villas branch. They've taken such great care of me these past few months. They are filled with wonderful and skilled staff members. From the front desk; Adam, Craig and Dawn were always freindly, on it, and helpful with scheduling or canceling an appointment with me. Then there were two hygienists that I've met, Alena and Maria who were also very knowledgeable and patient when it came to care or cleaning. Lastly, Dr. Young and Dr. Stone, both highly skilled and professional, its too unfortunate that they can only provide service once every other month. I would highly recommend this place to all my friends and family! Big MAHALO Hawaii Family Dental!!!

Dr.Collyer Young and his staff at Waiakea Villas Hawaii Family Dental are so professional and caring. Dr.Young listened to me and respected, and even went along with, one of my suggestions for the treatment of my teeth. I'm so pleased he takes Delta dental insurance, offered by United Healthcare.

Hawaii Family Dental has taken excellent care of my kids. My youngest (8 years old), recently had to have a lot of work done. Dr. Lee and his Dental Hygienist were amazing. They were so kind and supportive of my daughter, who was very nervous, and worked so quickly and fluidly with each other. It was like watching two people dancing. They got her in and out in under an hour! I highly recommend them.
