Nina was awesome. Gave great insight, very compassionate and had awesome music that helped me relax. She made me feel at ease and did an amazing job.

Had a cleaning with Nina today. What a 5 star experience for me. From the moment she called my name I knew it was gonna be a good visit. She guided me as a professional and made me very comfortable with confidence as to where I want to be with my health in hygiene going forward. My actual clean was awesome and so relax. Really enjoyed the music! So relaxing…. I don’t ever take the time to leave comments but I felt today was the day to give back some good words. TY Nina at Hawaii family dental in Hilo. I want to say "Mahalo plenty" to all the staff that I came in contact w today for my crown delivery X 2. From The front "Avatar" check in Angela, to Davlyn, Malakai & Priscilla at the front counter to Genesis and Dr. Tapua. All were professional and expedient and sensitive to my scheduling of future appts and VA approvals. Genesis even w x-ray malfunctions she troubleshooted and discovered it was a computer issue. SHE promptly took me to a working x-ray and moved everything over to another workspace (including my personal belongings as to not inconvenience me), so kind and very calm, cool and collective, the Triple "C" dental assistant. I was impressed how she handled the stress of malfunctioning equipment and reset her computer to no resolve. This is my 2nd time w Genesis. .She also assisted and even held my hand when I had a prior appt to extract a tooth. She reassured me, all was gonna be fast and be ok, she could sense I was nervous & lilobit scared. She is diplomatic yet compassionate and I was happy she worked w Dr. TAPUA on my crowns. FYI I was glad she didn't react like the Triple A lady: assertive, aggressive & abrasive or go off like a bomb. That girl deserves a raise. And last but not least, Dr Tapua, she is always a pleasure to see, greets me, says what she's gonna do and does it. She calms me w her singing voice.I am happy to have my new crowns 👑😊. I usually dread going to the dentist, but I happen to like mine look forward to future appts as I know I can expect the same hospitable yet professional treatment and care. I especially appreciate that they value my time too.

Dr Lisa Le is one of the kindest, proficient and most communicative dentist I have ever been associated with. Full disclosure I am 68. The Big Island is blessed to have such an all star for our needs . Thank you Dr Le❤️❤️❤️🤙🤙🤙

My visit with Dr Kristiana Tupua today was professional and great. She put me at ease let me know what she was doing and game changing they used a bite guard (not sure right word) which took pressure off my jaw while she filled the cavity. Wonderful to not have my jaw hurt when done with dental work.. Great visit and office staff super helpful.

The office staff were awesome and super nice. Nina was amazing. Made me very comfortable cause office visits always freak me out.

Everyone goes out of their way to make my visit as pleasant as possible. The work they did was over before I knew it. I would recommend anyone to their office.

Dr Lisa Le is the best dentist I have ever had. She is very professional, kind, sweet and thorough. Her assistant Alyssa is one of the best if not the best dental assistant I have ever had also. I cant thank you both enough for taking care of me.

Great dental office. Nina does an extremely thorough cleaning and I always feel like she's helping me take good care of my mouth! The virtual stuff at check in needs to be scrapped. There are plenty of people there to do a human in person check in

We are very satisfied with services received durin̈g Selena's visit to the dentist on Tuesday the 22nd of October. Didn't wait long to be seen and was very comfortable with Dr. Le. Front desk staff was very friendly and efficient. Mahalo plenty for taking her United Healthcare insurance also!

I had a dental implant and needed a crown to fit the BioHorizon brand implant. Hawaii Family Dental did a wonderful job of creating and installing a very natural and perfectly fitting crown. I found Dr. Akioka to be highly skilled and knowledgeable about the process, and his assistant had refined and caring technique. I'm going to have another implant crown done by them in a few months. In addition, they have a discount plan available for purchase at $199 for any work done during that one-hear period. in 2025, I saved 50% on my implant crown, a sizeable saving!

My wait was minimal, both dental assistant and dentist were friendly, considerate of my care, thorough and fast! That's what I wanted from a visit.

My temporary crown cracked and fell off, but they were able to see me on a Sunday and install the permanent crown, which had arrived early—two weeks before my scheduled appointment. Their professionalism, kindness, and genuine care for their patients truly stand out.

5 stars!!! I highly recommend going here. Everyone is friendly and provides great service. I felt at ease and welcomed the entire time I was there. The the dentist Dr. is so gentle I almost fell asleep.

Nina was the hygenist who did my teeth cleaning on 9 Jun 2025. She explained that as we age our teeth get discolored because the enamel which protects our teeth thins and the dentin below it turns yellow which in all the years of going to the dentist; no one ever explained this to me before. That's another reason crunchy & hard food may make teeth more sensitive too. She was professional & comical w a nice sense of humor that relaxed me and lowered my blood pressure! NINA finished the scraping and polishing, flossing and flouride treatment. Also since I had a temp crown, (my 2 bridges were not replaceable) she was careful working around it . She also cleaned my upper flipper and night guard I wear when I sleep to prevent bruxism (teeth grinding). I only hope that next appt in Dec w Nina will be faster for people who she does after me; since I have 2 less teeth now! TMI. Oh well, thats aging for u! Malakai and Lourdes also so helpful at the front desk since I am a veteran and they know the process best; short staffing, employees out ill or turn overs in dentists creates rescheduling of appts, request for new approval from VA, etc. Staff at front desk always try to call me if a cancellation comes available to get me in sooner. I appreciate that they value my time! Even tho I am retired, I keep a very busy schedule. They r a very busy dental office and am grateful they take me as a veteran. MAHALO to all. See u in December Nina, mahalo plenty. BTW Nina is also.my youngest granddaughter's name so I can't forget her name as a hygienist. She gave me back my smile!
