Dr. Lindsay Taira is a third-generation dentist who specializes in comfortable and personal dental care. After practicing in Oregon, Dr. Taira decided to return to her hometown.

UPDATE: new hygienist, Adam, is amazing. Friendly, funny and gave me great tips on keeping my teeth healthy! Reach with that brush to target my tarter prone read. My new dentist Alex is also a joy. Always great going to the dentist when they are friendly and care about your teeth and health, and not about the $$$. I recommend this place to everyone especially those who have had bad experiences with others!!! Mahalo Adam, Alex and the rest of the crew! I’m a patient for LIFE!!! 💞💞💞been going to Hawaii Family Dental since 2017. Hadn’t gone for YEARS due to horrid experiences as a child/teenager with other dentists. Started going to Hawaii Family Dental because my mother had a dental emergency and her co-worker recommended them. They’ve been my go to ever since! They were welcoming from the get go! Recently got all 4 wisdoms pulled by Dr. Edgar. Both he and assistant Al put me at ease the entire time. They could tell I was nervous and scared and when it was all done, I felt silly for dreading it so! Immediately texted my girlfriend in the same situation and told her to call them and see if they can take her as a new patient and schedule her extraction! I’m looking forward to my next cleaning with Hygienist Shontell! Only had her once and after that session, she my girl! They are all the epitome of ALOHA! Shout out to Dr. Meyer! She my girl too! They are all awesome 🤗. Never fear when you are in the hands of Hawaii Family Dental!!! 💞💞 #LovingMySmile !!!

One of the most pleasant dental experiences yesterday, from Shontell to Doctor Meyer to Priscilla, their attention to detail and 'chair side manner' was notable and, dare I say enjoyable!March 10 visit, was short and efficient!

Shontell is the best hygienist around. She has a wonderful and warm personality that puts you at ease while she’s cleaning your teeth. Gentle hands and very thorough. Dr. Meyer and the entire staff at Hawaii Family Dental - Hilo makes visiting the dentists office a pleasure. Welcoming and they go out of their way to ease any anxiety you may have when you walk in the door for your appointment.

I required extensive implant work on one of my front teeth. I panicked -- being new to Hilo side meant I needed a referral for an appointment to see a dentist. Two dentists later I finally found Dr. Meyer, and HFDC could do both surgery (Dr. Gill) and dental. Dr. Meyer even came in to work on a day off so that I would not have to walk around with a missing front tooth. Replicating what used to be there requires an artist’s eye and I was in Dr. Meyer’s good hands. Covid timing meant it took a little longer, but now I look good! Great staff too.
